The product being sold is a men's aftershave called Old Spice. For a 100ml bottle the retail price for this product is £7.99.Old Spice is an American brand of male grooming products encompassing deodorants and antiperspirants, shampoos, body washes, and soaps. It is manufactured by Procter & Gamble. Old Spice products were manufactured by the Shelton Company that was founded in 1934 by William Lightfoot Schultz. Schultz was inspired by his mother’s potpourri and as a result, the first Old Spice product in 1937 was a woman’s scent called Early American Old Spice. The product was received well, and therefore followed with Old Spice for men in 1938.

The target audience for this product is males. The aftershave is made specifically made for men. The aftershave is mainly targeted at an older generation of males.  
What representations are evident in the advert?
The name of the aftershave suggests that it is aimed at an older generation as it is called old spice. The word 'old' implies the target audience.
Why have such representations been employed?
The word 'old' in the name of the implies the target audience.
In what ways do the adverts appeal to the target audience?
The advert would appeal to the target audience of an older generation because the man used in the advert seems very muscular and youthful and he implies that he uses old spice. This would appeal to the older generation as they would want to look and feel similar to the model used
Are the adverts successful? Explain your answer.
personally I have never heard of old spice and I have never seen advertising of old spice. Therefore this suggests that a younger generation are very unaware of this product however  a younger generation are not their target audience. But the adverts for this product are not successful in advertising as a whole to any generation as i am very unaware of this product meaning that it has not been advertised successfully.
Colour palette 
The colours used overall are very light and delicate. white and cream are the main visual colours that stand out.Then there is the light blue sea in the  background and then green used on the trees and bushes in the landscape.
